Short Description

Phang Nga Bay has a totally different landscape during low tide than the one you may have seen before on a regular tour. During low tide, deep-rooted mangroves are visible. Short-lived lagoons are many. Distinct sea caves are walkable. The challenge is that low tides occur mostly very early in the morning. If you can wake up very early in the morning, the experience on this tour will take your breath away.

Description , What to expect?

[Local People along the Way]
Your trip to Phang Nga Bay may take over an hour. The best way to enjoy it is by looking at how local people start their lives early in the morning. Your van will pass by local markets, schools, government buildings, and plantations. You will be able to see a lot of things. Of course, they are all in addition to the scenery along the way.

[Low Tide in Phang Nga Bay]
Low tide lasts only a few hours in Phang Nga Bay. The water level would drop a few meters and expose newly formed lagoons, deep-rooted mangroves, and sea caves everywhere throughout the bay. You really are racing against time to experience all those breathtaking views.

[Sunrise in Phang Nga Bay]
The sunrise phenomenon is also spectacular in Phang Nga Bay. As the sun rises out of the sea and from behind the jagged islands, it turns the sea surface orange, highlights the deep roots of the mangroves, and brightens up the shadowy sea caves. And as it is low tide, the sunrise adds a dramatic view of the whole landscape.

[Cave Chamber]
As it is low tide, you have a chance to walk through a sea cave and into a cave chamber in the middle of Hong Island. The cave chamber contains weathered rocks in unique shapes. And along the cave chamber walls, a variety of plants and trees including cactuses grow out of the rocks. And on those trees, you can often spot migratory birds living on the islands. The floor of the cave chamber is watery and muddy but hard.

It is both exciting and thrilling knowing that, in less than an hour, the cave chamber will again be full of water.

[Hong & Panak Islands]
Both of these islands have distinct shapes of lagoons, sea caves, and limestone cliffs. Along them, mangroves grow not only on the sides but also deep into the sea floor. You will view them all. The best way to explore them all is by canoe.

[James Bond Island]

You will stop by at James Bond Island, the famous landmark of Thailand. But you will not stay long there.

[Fishing Village]
The fishing village has been in the area for a very long time and has therefore been considered as part of the mangrove forest. The fishing villagers have managed to reduce their catches of juvenile fishes in the area by instead farming cockles, consuming, and selling them. That way, they are sustainable on their own without destroying the mangrove forest all around them.

These villagers are mostly Moslem, but their culture, tradition, and way of life are distinctly their own and different from those in other island’s communities. The differences are noticeable in food and in the wooden architectures of their stilt houses and restaurants.
