[Rainforest Bamboo Rafting]
Bamboo Rafting is most efficient in rainforest exploration. Because it is quiet and slow, you can enjoy the jungle scenery along the river without disturbing animals living there.
For hundreds of years, before there was any road, bamboo rafting had been traditionally the most economical mode of mass transport across Thailand. Back then, people who lived in remote villages would transport things in a large number like chicken, pigs, vegetables, or rubber to market places by bamboo raft.
Bamboo is environmentally friendly. Bamboo trees can easily be found along a river. And the rafts could be made in a matter of hours. After use, the bamboo could be re-used for other purposes such as chicken or pig coops.
[Tree Houses]
The tree house where you are going to spend an overnight is one of the tree houses along the Sok River, where you have done bamboo rafting. A river in a jungle is an essential water resource for animals, trees, and plants that live in the jungle. Because of that, the place is quite dense with tall trees and all kinds of plants.
The tree houses are built onto some of the tall trees in a way that does not harm the trees. As it is in a national park, those tree houses have been approved and are constantly checked by the park authority for their suitability and usability without harming small plants around them, because animals, although not seen during the days do live in those trees or plants.
After the sun sets, the place becomes busy with all kinds of animals. You can hear their sounds all around you, near and far. Those are the real sounds of the jungle. The variety of the sounds is a good indication of a healthy jungle. The more variety of the sounds, the healthier the jungle is.
[Monkey Temple]
The Monkey Temple, also known as Wat Tham Panthurat, is both a temple and a sanctuary dedicated to the monkeys that live in the caves on the jagged mountain nearby. The view around the temple is quite scenic with lush vegetation covering most of the places especially in the distance.
Most of the time, the monkeys are on the temple’s grounds where they often find food left by the visitors or villagers who come over to pray, celebrate some rituals, or make offerings to the monks. Without the monkeys around, the temple is quiet.
